DESIGN AND FEATURES

The Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 comes in a simple yet interesting design. It doesn’t come with a fancy curved exterior, not with RGB LEDs – but still maintains an undeniable gamer appeal. Going with the red and black theme that characterizes gaming rigs, there’s no confusing what it’s built for: gaming, and game it does.

No Ports on the front Section

Unlike most desktop PCs, the front face houses no ports, rather a plain and serene metal and glass finish with the CyberpowerPC Logo at the bottom. On the right side is made of tempered glass with four thumbscrews that hold it in place. Besides the beautiful scenery the glass side offers, it makes all the internals accessible minus the need for a single tool. The top features plastic ribs that act as air vents for the three fans located on the front face of the machine.

Strangely enough, Cyberpower opted to have the ports located at the top of the machine rather than at its front. Well, every user has their taste – but as for us, we didn’t really like this placement since it makes the ports a little less accessible than they would be at the front. Further, having cables dangling from the top of the PC is not exactly a pretty sight. However, considering what else the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A2 Gaming desktop has to offer, this concern does little to dampen our esteem for it.

On switching on the PC, a bright blue indicator light comes on – a little too bright for our liking, and can be pretty irritating when using the PC in the dark. In addition to that, headphone and mic jacks are not marked – which means you have to guess your way around until know by heart which one is which. All in all, other than the unnatural location of ports on top of the PC, we really love how the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme VR gaming pc desktop GXiVR8080A2 looks.

We love the gaming keyboard and mouse that comes with the unit. The keyboard is pretty nice to type on, with its keys offering deep travel and excellent response. However, it is incomparable to a mechanical keyboard. The mouse is equally nice and is good enough for gaming.

CONNECTIVITY

The Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 comes with a pretty neat selection of ports which includes two USB 3.1 ports, microphone, and headphone jack and a reset button, all on the top panel of the PC. At the rear, you find two USB 2.0 ports, four USB 3. ports, an RJ-45 Ethernet port, and an Audio 7.1 channel. It also comes with a plethora of display ports including two HDMI port, two DisplayPorts, and a DVI port.

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE

It goes without saying that the Nvidia 1080Ti GPU is the main attraction in the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 gaming desktop and that with good reason. It is, without a doubt, the most powerful consumer-level graphics card with the ability to handle 4K gaming without surrendering significantly on detail and frame-rates. With the cryptocurrency frenzy at its peak – which has resulted in a sharp rise in demand for high-end graphics cards – the cost of graphics cards has shot through the roof. This in effect has meant that it has become cheaper to buy a pre-built rig than build one yourself. So you ask, “What’s all the big fuss over this PC?” Now you know.

A Gaming Beast

Thanks to NVidia GTX 1080Ti GPU, the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 gaming desktop is well equipped to handle all manner of graphics-intensive work such as VR (virtual reality), 1080p and 4K gaming. It can handle 4K games at 60 frames per second in most titles. Also, it plays VR headsets such as the HTC Vive Pro and renders images excellently to high-resolution. Ultra-wide monitors and high refresh rate monitors display up to 240Hz.

When it comes to the installed RAM, 16GB is more than enough for your gaming needs. However, we know that there are some folks out there who need to run demanding software – such as in Engineering simulations or online video editing. In case you fall into this category, you will be happy to note that there are 4 RAM DIMM slots available on the ASRock Z370 Pro4 motherboard, two of which are occupied by 8GB cards each. The maximum the system can take is 64GB.

High-end graphics

Teamed up with the NVidia 1080Ti graphics card is an Intel Core i7-8700K processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 240GB solid-state drive (SSD) and a 1TB hard disk drive (HDD). You will also be pleased to know that the 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700K graphics card is the best of the best in Intel processors.

Up from the previous 8th Generation (Kaby Lake) Core i7-7700K processor, the Core i7-8700K is one among the latest 8th Generation (Coffee Lake) processors that have been raising dust clouds in the computing scene. It offers the best gaming performance in the Intel line of processor owing to its fast clock speeds (3.7 – 4.3GHz), multiple-cores and multiple-threaded operations (6 cores and 12 threads). You can be sure that this processor will not a bottleneck when gaming or handling any kind of workload.

Plenty of Storage to go around

In matters storage, the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr gaming pc desktop is more than adequately equipped. Coming with a 7200rpm HDD and 128GB SSD, it offers sufficiently large volumes of storage to cater for most of your needs (if not all). The Operating system is loaded onto the SSD thus significantly cutting down on boot-up and program load speed.

Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 motherboard

Storage options include six SATA ports (for adding an extra solid-state drive or optical drive), and three M.2 ports – two for storage and one for a Wi-Fi antenna (already occupied). So if you feel that the 128GB SSD is not enough for you, you can plug in an M.2 SSD in one of the two slots.

Also available on the motherboard are two full-length PCIe slots (one is currently occupied by the GTX 1080Ti GPU), but only the first is powered by the processor for x16 connectivity. The second full-length is a PCIe x4 from the chipset, and there are three other PCIe x1 slots also from the chipset. You can add an extra Graphics card on the free PCIe slot if you need to (say maybe a GTX 1060 GPU). The final slot on the board is a legacy PCI slot, just in case.

Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 Gaming performance

The Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 averages 60fps at 4K resolution in most games and goes up to 75 fps at 1440p. 1080p is child’s play for this beast – that’s why we haven’t findings here. But you can expect roughly between 150 and 200 fps at 1080p resolution.

Note: While gaming can be a fun pass time, it’s important to engage in it with moderation and self-awareness. Too much gaming may result in physical health and mental challenges.

The Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8080A2’s cooling system is quite effective even when gaming thanks to a rather effective heat management system that includes water cooling. Even after a 9-hour gaming session, the peak temperature averages 40 degrees on the processor and 69 degrees (centigrade) on the graphics card. The fan LED lights on the fan light up red and look really good. They are however locked in one color and cannot be turned off.

Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A2 Power Supply

In operation, the fans run pretty silent on idle a pick up some noise when under load, though fairly silent even all the same. Finally, the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 comes with a 600W Thermaltake power supply – whose supplies are more than enough for the system and can support the future upgrades on the PC.

CONCLUSION

It is not every day that you purchase a $2000 computer. With such a budget, it makes sense to consider your options – whether to go for a self-build or just buy one off the shelf. After considering the features and overall performance of the Cyberpowerpc Gamer Xtreme vr GXiVR8080A2 it makes sense to consider it as a viable option.

First, it comes with a high-end processor and graphics card, ample port system and efficient cooling – all the things you would be looking PC that will serve at least over 4 years. However, if you are looking for a better-designed rig with even higher-end specs and have less concern over price, then a self-build may be a better alternative for you.
