CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 Gaming Desktop Review

The CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 Gaming Desktop performs decently delivering over 60fps at 1080p for several popular gaming titles like GTA5 and call of duty. The components installed are great for a PC at this price point and we think it’s a good purchase for entry-level gamers. Playing at 60fps isn’t that bad as many gamers including experienced ones have been playing on gaming laptops equipped with screens capped at 60Hz.

Design and Features

The exterior design of the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 Gaming Desktop has all the characteristics of a pre-built gaming rig. The case features bright blue LED lighting that can be controlled via the buttons at the top of the case if you’re into that kind of thing. We like to keep the lights off to save on power since we rarely have to watch the PC itself while playing. However, the lighting is a nice addition since it gives the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 Gaming Desktop the aggressive looks desired by gamers who like to show off their desk setup.

There is a see-through glass on the sides showing off the neatly done internals. Cable management is perfectly done as we do not see any hanging cables on the motherboard. A detachable steel mesh at the stop effectively keeps bugs and other FOBs from entering the PC while allowing hot air to be exhausted. This a mid-tower case and overall build quality is great. It doesn’t take up too much space as it measures just 8×17.3 x 19.1 inches leaving room for our dual-screen setup and other peripherals.

This PC does not come with Bloatware-We get a clean install of windows 10 home allowing us to set our gaming rig in a matter of minutes and jump into gaming. The CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 also includes a DVD burner that you can use to load offline games or play movies on DVD.

Input Devices

Included with CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 is a wired gaming keyboard and mouse. We have no complaints about these peripherals as they perform decently most of the time. We really did not feel the need to spend more money on a more specialized gaming keyboard and mouse. The keyboard feels quite nice to game on for long periods of time as the keys are snappy and have great travel. The gaming mouse isn’t really special but it gets the job done.

Ports

For display output, we get the 2 x DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI ports that come with GTX950. Other IO connections include; six USB 2.0 ports, three USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet port,7.1 channel audio ports, and a mic/headphone combo jack.

The CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 has gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Internal Wi-Fi isn’t available but an external USB card can be installed when needed.

Performance

As mentioned briefly in the beginning, the processor installed on the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 is 3.3 GHz AMD FX 6300(8 core). This is a heavy-duty card that can handle any type of workload without problems. It is paired with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 with 2GB GDDR5 video memory mounted on a PCI Express x16 slot. This is an entry-level graphics unit that packs enough juice to render gaming artifacts smoothly at over 70fps at 1080p resolution.

Installed RAM is a whopping 16GB of DDR3 SDRAM. This amount of RAM makes the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 a good PC for power users running heavy applications like graphics editing suites and as a powerful general-purpose desktop PC. Internal memory is a 1TB SATA hard drive spinning at 7200RPM. Upgrading storage and RAM is easy as there are more slots on the motherboard for upgrades.

Power Supply

This gaming PC comes with a 500W power supply that can handle a few upgrades but nothing crazy like a GTX 1080. We think the processor and physical memory is sufficient for this rig so you probably just need to swap the GPU for a GTX980 or 960 if you feel like you need better graphics performance. Gaming performance on the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 is really nice especially at 1080p on high settings. We tried a few modern titles like GTA5, Far Cry 4, Overwatch and world of Warcraft. All these games played smoothly at over 70fps on very high settings.

The CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 really shines as a general-purpose PC for intense multitasking thanks to its processor, dedicated graphics and 16 gigs of RAM. Applications like Photoshop, blender 3D and premiere run smoothly.

Conclusion

We were a bit skeptical when we first checked out the CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 on amazon, the graphics unit seemed a bit dated and we were not sure how it would perform when loaded with modern games. Our experience playing games and using it as a daily machine killed our doubts. This a great budget gaming rig for users who would like to enjoy gaming without breaking the bank or struggling to build a PC.
