CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG Desktop Review

The CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG Gaming Desktop is an affordable option for mid-tier and casual gamers who want to enjoy PC gaming without the hassle of having to build their own rig. This rig is rocking a uniquely designed metallic case that is will appeal to a lot of gamers who like to show off their gaming PC. It is powered by an AMD FX-6300 3.50GHZ Six-Core processor based on AMD’s 760G Chipset and graphics is handled by an AMD Radeon R7 250 2GB Video Card.

Both the CPU and GPU on this PC are intriguing choices as AMD components do not come cheap especially in 2017. Though a bit dated as compared to newer and more popular chips released in 2017, the performance components on this rig pack enough juice to breeze through several modern mid-tier titles like Dirt rally, Doom and GTA5 at decent frame rates.

Pros

  • Aggressive and eye-catching case
  • Adequate cooling
  • Reasonably priced
  • Comes with a gaming keyboard and mouse
  • Has windows 10 pre-installed (it’s a plug and play gaming rig)
  • Great performance for light and mid-tier games

Cons

  • Components a bit dated
  • Fans can get loud in a quiet environment

We love the beastly and eccentric looks of this CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG. The black case and red RGB lighting make it so aggressive and attractive to look at. The CPU and GPU pair is more than we would ever need for our favorite gaming titles in 2017. Cyberpower also priced this rig really well considering the cost of all the components installed.

We attempted to gather all the components on amazon and ended up spending just above $450 minus the gaming keyboard, mouse and operating system. This is an excellent choice for mid-tier gamers and power users out there. You can also play more demanding AAA titles like Witcher 3 at over 60fps if you are not the type of gamer obsessed with playing at the highest frame rates.

Design and Features

As we’ve already mentioned in this CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG review, the case CyberPowerPC chose for this rig is amazing. From the polygonal glass panel that shows off the internals to the red RGB lighting, the aggressive contours and sunken surfaces, this case has all the design elements that a gamer and power user would want in a desktop PC. You can tell by looking through the glass panel that cable management is done professionally as is with most Cyberpower gaming rigs.

The glowing RGB treatment on the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG almost makes it look like a red hot flame glowing through the vents and glass panel. This is an epic looking gaming rig that will definitely feature prominently on your gaming setup. Another great feature is the pre-installed licensed copy of windows 10 home as it saves us money. It also brings all the new features included in this new OS like the XBOX apps and DirectX 11.2 Gaming optimization.

Input Devices

As with all Cyberpower gaming rigs, the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG  comes with a free black 102-Key keyboard with an illuminated LED logo design and a 9-button gaming mouse with 4000 DPI Optical Sensor and five (5) 5g adjustable weights in the base and an illuminated LED logo design.

Performance on the gaming keyboard is great, the keys are responsive and have decent travel. We also like the presence of 8 unique multimedia keys and nicely designed and ergonomic palm rest. The same goes for the free gaming mouse. It’s a great input device, especially for those intense gaming sessions. The 9 buttons provide a plethora of input gestures for snappier and engaging gameplay.

The CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG provides gigabit Ethernet connectivity through the inbuilt NIC that has the RJ45 port at the back. There is no Wi-Fi connectivity but an external USB card can always provide this when needed.

Performance

Some hardcore PC building enthusiasts may want to dismiss the AMD performance components installed on this PC. However, we think they provide enough compute power for mid-tier gamers and power-users. This is in no way the fastest gaming desktops out there today and we are not suggesting that, but for this price and value, the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG is a great performer.

The AMD FX-6300 3.50GHZ Six-Core processor was one of the most popular chips from AMD in 2016 and still remains a popular choice for many gamers and power users out there today. It’s a better alternative to some popular Inter core i7 chips currently in the market and really shines when it comes to multi-threaded workloads as well as providing enough juice for smooth gameplay. It’s one of the best AMD processors out there. This being a 6 core processor also makes it great for general productivity aside form gaming.

Graphics performance is driven by another popular AMD chip-the AMD Radeon R7 250 2GB Video Card. The 2GB physical memory on this GPU is a bit meager. But it’s no slouch as it performs well above average for several E-sports titles and mid-tier games like world of Warcraft Doom and GTA.

Memory and Gaming

Installed RAM is 8GB of DDR3 memory and internal memory is a 1TB mechanical HDD. There are empty slots on the motherboard for RAM upgrades if you plan to use the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG for other tasks besides gaming.

Performance in terms of gaming is above average, to say the least depending on the game played and monitor used. The ITB mechanical hard drive mounted on a Serial ATA-600 interface is a bit of a letdown.  We experienced delayed renders for elements in some open-world titles like GTA due to its slow read speeds.

We hooked the GUA3120CPG to our dual monitor setup consisting of two VIOTEK GN32Q – 32 Inch displays for this test.  Below are the scores for a select few mid-tier and AAA titles played at 1080p and 1440p resolution.

Overwatch120fps on ultra
Minecraft125fps
World of warcraft130fps on ultra
Doom96fps on ultra
GTA580fps on very high settings

The CyberPowerPC GUA3120CPG is also a great PC for general usage. It thrives in a heavy multi-tasking environment since its rocking one of the best AMD multiple core processors out there.

CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG Review: Conclusion

If you are looking into buying an affordable gaming and productivity PC with above-average performance scores, the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG is a great choice based on our experience.

Cyberpower does a cheaper model similar to this-The Cyberpower Gamer Ultra GUA3100A. However, we honestly cannot advise you to pick that one over the CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA3120CPG just to save 50 bucks for a slower CPU and older GPU.
