Pixio PX347c Prime Review [34-inch Curved QHD Gaming Monitor]

Founded in 2016, Pixio is a very unique entrant into the display manufacturing segment competing with the likes of ASUS, Dell, and Samsung. Now, you may want to dismiss them as just another cheap startup trying to flood the market with cheap displays but hold on a minute. The unique thing about Pixio that separates them from the others is the fact that this company was founded by hard-core gamers to make high-end displays for gamers. For a fraction of the price that you would pay for a 34-inch ultra wide 2k display with established brands like Dell, you get an amazing (yes AMAZING) Pixio flagship model codenamed Pixio PX347c Prime.

Verdict

Gaming on the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch is an amazing experience. The color accuracy is top-notch, refresh rates are stellar and overall it gives you a totally immersive viewing experience since it’s an ultra-wide display. Most, if not all major titles will play at over 80 frames per second with zero tearing or lagging thanks in part to Built-in Adaptive-Sync plus other technologies incorporated in the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch ultra-wide.

Almost all clients who bought this model on Amazon gave it a positive 5-star rating and after reviewing it, we strongly concur. On top of that, the pricing for this 100Hz 2k Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch ultrawide is incredible.

DESIGN AND FEATURES

The Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch is a beautifully designed monitor. It’s made of a strong edge to edge curved body with a matte finish. The bezels around the display panel are very thin therefore leaving more screen real estate for viewing. This is also great if you plan to use it in a dual monitor setup. There aren’t any particularly aggressive design elements except maybe for the distinctive red Pixio logo at the back. The overall build quality is in my opinion very clean and a bit bland but definitely screams durability and perfection.

One thing that you immediately appreciate though is the sheer size of this thing. Having an entire 34 inches of screen real estate with a 21:9 Aspect Ratio envelope around you really does cover your entire field of vision and immerse you into the content.

Moving on, the ports at the back are well spaced out and nicely positioned to ease cable management. There is a removable plastic cover to keep all cables nicely tucked up inside.

Stand and Wall Mount

The stock stand that comes with the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch ultra-wide monitor has a thin metallic base that really takes up a small space on the desk. The stand supports tilting but as mentioned before, height and swivel adjustment is not something you will get with this stand. For that, you may need to buy the P-400 stand and manually drill holes at the back to mount it since it lacks a VESA mount hole pattern at the back.

Display and Picture

Another notable feature on the Pixio PX347c Prime worth mentioning is the support for the picture in picture mode (PIP/PIPPOS/PBP). What this basically allows you to do is connect more than one device to the display and have both output data to screen at the same time. You then choose which of them is displayed as the main content and the secondary content is displayed as a small square on the corner.

This is great especially if you are playing a game on full screen while at the same time doing live chats. A great feature for live streaming gameplay on Twitch. PBP mode goes an extra step by allowing you to split the output from the different inputs into two areas (left and right). You can, therefore, run two computers simultaneously on the Pixio PX347c Prime.

Decent Amount of Ports

All the ports required for modern display output are present on the Pixio PX347c Prime. It has one dual-link DVI port, a 1.4 HDMI port and of course the all-important DisplayPort. Just in case you don’t already know, the DisplayPort is important because you can only leverage the Adaptive-Sync technology for tear-free renders if you have the Pixio PX347c Prime hooked up to your desktop using a DisplayPort. Pixio packs all the three cables in the bundle. Also at the back is an audio and power port.

PERFORMANCE

This is the most important part of the Pixio PX347c. This monitor packs all the power and cool features you need for an enjoyable gaming and media consumption experience. Just to do a quick rundown of all the performance features before we dive deep deeper into specifics, this monitor is rocking an SVA panel with a 178˚ Viewing Angle, 3000:1 Contrast Ratio, 50000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and 21:9 aspect ratio. SVA panels kind of sit in the middle of IPS (in-plane switching) panels and TN (Twisted Nematic) panels. This means you get great color reproduction without compromising on viewing angles anti-glare capabilities and response times.

Gaming on the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch is an enjoyable experience especially if you have it hooked up to an AMD powered card and have your favorite games in the correct settings. It has a class-leading 60Hz to 100Hz FreeSync range. In case you don’t know FreeSync is AMD’s answer to NVidia’s G-Sync technology that works in the background to resolve any mismatch between the GPU output and the output on your display.

FreeSync Technology

FreeSync eliminates stuttering and tearing leading to smoother and fluid gameplay. The Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch runs at a solid 100Hz at all times for AAA gameplay at high and ultra settings. Demanding titles like Pug-G, Battlefield and GTA run at over 80fps without any tearing or stuttering. If you have a powerful GPU, you would still turn off FreeSync and run any game with the native V-Sync at over 100fps or below the 60fps FreeSync range with no tear.

Other notable gaming features include; FPS (first person shooter) and RTS (Real-time strategy) modes for better gameplay.

Color accuracy and brightness on the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch is pretty amazing. This monitor can push accurate colors while maintaining the brightness of 250 nits making media consumption like YouTube and Netflix streaming enjoyable.

Our Take

The Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch monitor is an amazing display at an unbeatable price. It has one of the best response times you could get on a 34 inch 100hz monitor currently. Pixio as a company really does have the gaming DNA and they have managed to make a winner in the ultra-gaming segment at an affordable price. We think it performs better than similar offerings from other manufacturers like the LG 34UC79G-B 34-Inch and the VIOTEK GNV32DB 32-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor which are actually 32 inches with far less resolution than the Pixio PX347c Prime, yet retailing at the same price!

Fun Fact: Did you know that Nit (brightness unit) is another word for the unit Candela which is equal to the light output of one candle? So say at 250nits, the brightness on the Pixio PX347c Prime 34-inch monitor is equal to the output of 250 candles! Just thought you should know.
