We’ve reviewed a lot of monitors in the past and what seems to be constantly requested for is a basic monitor selling for a good price. If you look beyond fancy things like refresh rate, adaptive sync, and enthusiastic oriented design you’ll be left with a basic functional screen. For the most part, that’s what most of us yearn for in a screen and to that end, 60Hz is perfectly fine. The one constant factor that remains beneficial, above all else for the everyday display, is having an IPS screen – it promises perfect viewing angles. Today, we’re reviewing a member of the AOC family, the AOC I2267FW 22-Inch IPS Frameless LED Monitor. It offers all functionality at a decent rock bottom price.

Design

Weighing in at 6.1 pounds, the AOC I2267FW 22-inch IPS Monitor is a lightweight 22-inch monitor ideal for the office cubicles or your home office desk. At first glance, what stands out the most is the thin (2mm) bezel which is an excellent choice for users who want to take advantage of dual monitor displays. The thin bezel gives off a modern sleek look and allows you to place two/three monitors side by side. This is best for gaming or watching movies because it creates the illusion of one giant seamless screen.

The key specifications to consider before buying a monitor are the size, refresh rate, panel technology, and a number of ports/types of video inputs. Besides from an ultra-thin bezel, the AOC I2267FW 22-inch Class IPS Monitor comes with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 display meaning you can enjoy streaming Full HD videos on YouTube and Netflix.AOC I2267FW 22-Inch Class IPS Frameless/Slim LED Monitor, Full HD,250 cd/m2 Brightness,5ms,50M:1 DCR,VGA/DVI

Additionally, the screen is a non-reflective matte anti-glare which helps prevent reflective sun rays from ruining an otherwise awesome viewing experience. Thanks to the coating, it won’t leave smudges or fingerprints on the screen when handling it. Speaking of sun rays, the AOC I2267FW Class IPS Monitor suffers its biggest setback yet; an average 250 cd/m2 brightness level.  That means it’s not as bright as other monitors in the market and is a little less bright in bright lit rooms.

AOC I2267FW Refresh Rate

AOC didn’t completely trade off everything; there are at least a number of great things worth mentioning too. The AOC I2267FW IPS Monitor boasts of a 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and response time of 5ms. That promises a splendid experience playing games and watching movies without drag. The screen also sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and thanks to the IPS panel, 178 degrees of vertical and horizontal viewing angles. You get a decent 60Hz refresh rate sufficient for playing games and should deliver some great frame rates on recent gaming titles.

Well, there’s a simple rule of thumb with monitors, laptops, and electronics. With specifications, more is generally good with exceptions to just but a few of course (the quoted number is just half the story). At the moment, 144Hz is the go-to- refresh rate in town and it does a spectacular job. But for the price, our unit delivers perfectly with its 60Hz refresh rate. So it’s ideal for watching movies, playing games and running day-to-day office duties.

Ports

Moving on, the rear is home to a few ports: DVI and VGA. Obviously, the lack of an HDMI or DisplayPort connector is limiting because that means you’re only stuck with two options for connecting to your CPU. On the bright side, the two ports allow you to have a triple monitor set up.AOC I2267FW 22-Inch Class IPS Frameless/Slim LED Monitor, Full HD,250 cd/m2 Brightness,5ms,50M:1 DCR,VGA/DVI

To do so, you’d have to ensure your graphics card can handle three monitors and that your monitors are of course the same model, size and resolution. That goes a long way to ensure similar color appearance, resolution, response times so that you don’t end up with any kind of nauseating or disorienting pictures on your screen set up.

Configurations

AOC has a number of options in its configuration list. The options differ in terms of style and screen size, our unit being the cheapest and smallest in size (22 inches). The largest screen available on the configuration is the 29-inch LED-lit Resolution Monitor named AOC Q2963PQ 29-Inch Monitor. It costs more (around $300) but offers so much more including HDMI and VESA Mounting.

A budget-friendly Companion

We loved the AOC I2267FW 22-Inch Class IPS Frameless Slim LED Monitor for many reasons. Its thin bezel stands out above everything else giving it a sleek minimalistic-modern look. It offers a good balance of performance and aesthetics and we definitely had no qualms with it on that front. Images are clear, colors accurate and the display has wide viewing angles (178 degrees) thanks to the good In-Plane Switching (IPS).

The port system provides two options for connections; DVI and VGA meaning you can have a triple monitor set up for gaming or office work – improves productivity! However, the biggest downside we noted beside the lack of an HDMI port was the lack of VESA mounting at the rear. But you can easily resolve that buying a VESA Mount Adapter Bracket.

Bottom line, this is a great monitor with few compromises, best for users who want 1080p and working on a budget. For the price it sells at, it offers a solid bang for the buck.
